Job Description

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating end-user documents in accordance with the company’s strategies and standards. The successful candidate will work closely with subject matter experts to understand the technical information and interpret it accurately to create operating manuals, user guides, quick reference material, application and technical notes, training materials, etc. The position requires steering publications from initiation to release.

Description:

  • Write, rewrite and edit technical documents and other communications in support of the INFICON brand, its products and technologies.
  • Work with product engineering, development, customer support, product marketing teams and others to produce well-written, error-free materials that allow our customers to succeed in learning about and using our products.
  • Be a part of project team meetings and provide deliverables in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Coordinate with translation agency to create technical documents in assigned languages.
  • Keep procedures and work instructions up-to-date and in accordance with required standards and Quality (ISO9001) guidelines.
  • Maintain project source files and records of work and revisions.
  • Maintain the company grammar standards.
  • Be a continuous learner and keep abreast of new technologies that would facilitate the most efficient development of technical publications and support the company’s strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Science, other related technical discipline.
  • 1-3+ years of experience writing and editing product documentation for engineering and/ or technology products. (required)
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required, including exceptional attention to detail and proofreading abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with members from a variety of business functions.
  • Must be self driven and have the ability to work in a fast-paced, quickly changing technical environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; must be deadline focused.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • An understanding of structured authoring a plus.
  • Experience with photography and video creation and editing a plus.

Additional Information

For New York, the expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $80,000 per year. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit sharing bonus with a target of 10%.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.
