Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and drive innovation in mechanical design for advanced technology platforms. This role focuses on developing precision mechanical components and assemblies that enable characterization and validation of cutting-edge designs. You will own the design pipeline, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to novel architecture development.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development

  • Create and release precision mechanical components and assemblies (e.g., characterization fixtures, validation structures) to support new product architectures.

  • Develop robust design solutions for complex mechanical interfaces and integration challenges.

Process Ownership

  • Own and continuously improve the mechanical design pipeline, ensuring efficiency and scalability.

  • Maintain and update design templates, standards, and documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with electrical, optical, and process engineers to gather requirements and translate them into manufacturable designs.

  • Support inspection, assembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical components during prototyping and validation phases.

Analysis and Optimization

  • Perform minor Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate structural integrity and optimize designs.

  • Contribute to brainstorming and feasibility studies for novel architectures.

Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure designs meet internal quality standards and customer specifications.

  • Participate in IQA reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.

AutoCAD 3D, Collaborating, Communication, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), MATLAB, Python (Programming Language), Scripting, SolidWorks

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience | Required

Pay Range:

$90,500.00 - $118,755.00

Pay Range Explained:

This role in Livermore, California pays between $90,500.00 and $118,755.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off. You’ll also be eligible for quarterly profit-sharing bonuses and flexible spending or savings accounts.
