Position Overview:

Join Tower Semiconductor in Newport Beach, CA, as a full-time Process Engineer and play a pivotal role in the advancement of semiconductor manufacturing. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $108,077 to $119,000 per year, focusing on sustaining, improving, and developing diffusion processes within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Operations, Equipment Engineering, Integration, and R&D teams to ensure timely delivery of products meeting customer specifications.
  • Interface with global teams to standardize and enhance diffusion processes and procedures.
  • Manage and optimize diffusion processes using BTI furnaces, Akrion, and DNS pre-diffusion clean benches.
  • Employ metrology tools (e.g., Rudolph, Tencor) for process monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancement.
  • Lead the installation, qualification of new tools, and process technologies.
  • Facilitate process and technology transfers, supporting Integration and Quality teams to meet all requirements.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies for process analysis and improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for tool/product failures and develop corrective actions.
  • Design and execute experiments (DOE) for new tool/process qualifications to enhance capacity and quality.


  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with semiconductor physics, MEMS technology, clean room operations, and device fabrication.
  • Proficiency in thin film applications, vapor deposition, wet etch chemistries, and semiconductor equipment (dry etchers, ashers).
  • Skilled in metrology (Ellipsometers, profilometers) and characterization tools (SEM, AFM, Optical Microscope).
  • Familiarity with control systems, process improvement design, and execution.
  • Ability to develop Out-of-Control Action Plans (OCAPs) and troubleshoot engineering issues.
