Job Description

The Mechanical Quality Engineer will responsible for ensuring that mechanical components and systems meet the required quality standards and specifications. This role involves the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality control processes to optimize product quality and reliability. The Mechanical Quality Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, conducts inspections, analyzes data, and implements corrective actions to improve overall product quality.

Quality Control: 

  • Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection procedures, and protocols for mechanical components and systems. 
  • Conduct regular inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards. 
  • Utilize measurement tools, testing equipment, and statistical analysis to assess and verify product dimensions and specifications. 

Documentation and Reporting: 

  • Maintain comprehensive records of quality control activities, inspection results, and any deviations from established standards. 
  • Prepare and present regular reports on quality performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document and communicate quality standards and requirements. 

Root Cause Analysis: 

  • Investigate and analyze the root causes of quality issues and non-conformities. 
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to identify corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues. 
  • Implement corrective actions and monitor their effectiveness to prevent recurrence. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes to enhance overall product quality and efficiency. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize quality management systems. 

Training and Education: 

  • Provide training and guidance to production and inspection teams on quality control procedures and best practices. 
  • Stay informed about advancements in quality control methods and technologies. 


    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 
    • Experience with SAP. 
    • Proven experience in quality engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment. 
    • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes. 
    • Proficient in quality control methodologies, statistical analysis, and measurement tools. 
    • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. 
    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations. 
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills. 
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement. 

    Additional Information

    For New York, the expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $100,000 per year. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit sharing bonus with a target of 10%.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law
