The Opportunity
The Manager, Credit, is responsible for overseeing Allegro MicroSystems' global credit management function. This role involves developing, implementing, and enforcing credit policies and procedures to mitigate financial risk, optimize cash flow, and support sales growth. The Manager, Credit, will lead a team (if applicable), conduct thorough credit analyses, establish credit limits, and collaborate closely with sales, legal, and finance teams to ensure sound financial decisions and maintain strong customer relationships.
What You Will Do
Credit Policy & Strategy:
- Develop, implement, and continuously review Allegro's global credit policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, industry best practices, and regional legal/regulatory requirements.
- Establish credit risk assessment methodologies and frameworks for new and existing customers.
- Contribute to the overall financial strategy by providing insights on credit trends, market risks, and their potential impact on Allegro's business.
Credit Analysis & Risk Management:
- Lead the comprehensive credit analysis of potential and existing customers, utilizing financial statements, credit reports, industry data, and other relevant information.
- Determine appropriate credit limits and payment terms for customers, balancing sales objectives with risk mitigation.
- Monitor customer accounts for changes in financial health and payment behavior, proactively identifying and addressing potential credit risks.
- Manage and negotiate complex credit arrangements, including letters of credit, guarantees, and other forms of security.
Team Leadership & Development (if applicable):
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Credit Analysts or specialists, fostering a high-performance and analytical culture.
- Manage team performance, conduct regular reviews, and support professional growth.
- Allocate resources effectively to manage credit portfolios across different regions.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Partner closely with the Sales team to support revenue generation while managing credit exposure, facilitating sales growth through prudent risk assessment.
- Collaborate with the Legal team (Sharon Briansky's and Gary Pepka's team) on credit-related agreements, disputes, and collections.
- Work with Treasury and Accounting teams (Jacqueline Kelley's and Roald Webster's teams) to optimize cash flow, manage accounts receivable, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Communicate credit decisions and rationale clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Collections & Dispute Resolution:
- Oversee collection efforts for overdue accounts, implementing strategies to minimize bad debt.
- Work with customers and internal teams to resolve billing disputes and payment discrepancies efficiently.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Generate regular reports on credit exposure, aging accounts receivable, bad debt reserves, and other key credit metrics for senior management.
- Utilize financial data to identify trends, forecast potential issues, and recommend proactive solutions.
Who You Are
- Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CCE - Certified Credit Executive) is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in credit management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven experience in a global manufacturing or technology company, preferably within the semiconductor industry, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of international credit practices, trade finance, and relevant legal frameworks.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert proficiency in financial statement analysis and credit risk assessment techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound credit decisions.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and credit management software.
- Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and data analysis.
