Shift/Hours/Location: M-F, 8am-5pm, Onsite, Moses Lake, WA

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

  • Responsible for the governance, infrastructure, systems, coaching/training, metrics, oversights compliance, escalations, and continuous improvement of the Training curriculum for the Lab.
  • Manage training of all Lab personnel, scheduling and performing training or coordinating training with qualified subject matter expert support as needed.
  • Oversee training performed by other team members (leads, subject matter experts, etc.) to ensure training is performed well and documented appropriately.
  • Work with Lab staff (Lab Leads, Lab Technical Leads, Lab Supervisors, Lab Manager) to coordinate training schedules with minimal disruption to critical processes and communicate (email) scheduled training to affected team members.
  • Sign up Lab employees for any cross-departmental training needed in the training calendar, as appropriate.
  • Identify procedures or skills with two or fewer certified Technicians and work with Leads and Managers to enhance business continuity planning by ensuring adequate certified backups are developed as needed in partnership with Lab staff (Lab Leads, Lab Technical Leads, Lab Supervisors, Lab Manager)
  • Ensure that safety requirements are adequately described, and training includes safety focus.
  • Maintain constant communication with Lab Leads, Lab Supervisor, Lab Technical Leads and Lab Manager when identifying issues in the Laboratory area.
  • Uses knowledge and good discretion when certifying Employees on procedures to verify they are competent to perform.
  • Facilitate onboarding of new hires.
  • Lead lab process audits and internal audits, with one internal audit per quarter per lab. Take an active role in QA auditing and improving procedures and practices.
  • Conduct 5S audits to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform Job Observations to verify all Technicians are doing their jobs exactly to procedures on all shifts.
  • Ensures all staff is working in accordance with MLI Safety Guidelines and escalates to Laboratory Manager as needed.
  • Write and edit procedures and job aids as assigned.
  • Solicit feedback from department members and leaders on potential safety concerns, new processes, and gaps with existing processes that could benefit from additional or enhanced training, enhanced documentation, or generation of job aids and work with department leaders to review and implement appropriate changes.
  • Drive the scheduling, content, and review of lessons learned for department safety drills and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs). Coordinate lessons learned reviews and solicited feedback from team members.
  • Drive the development of appropriate training materials, job aids, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other training and reference media as needed.
  • Work with Leads, Managers, and subject matter experts to ensure procedures are clear, specific, and facilitate standardized execution of processes by all personnel and shifts to minimize variation and maintain safety and quality standards.
  • Create and update SEDs for department teams, working with leads and managers to ensure employees are assigned to appropriate SEDs.
  • Maintain training records.
  • Update training paperwork for tracking in Training Management System.
  • Review Learning Management System to schedule any training or recertification’s needed for employees and update training records for completed certifications.
  • Develop real time, robust TC and Lab certification metrics by lab, by person with robust plans, roadmaps, and timelines to meet compliance to goal.
  • Uphold all MLI policies and “MLI Code of Conduct.”
  • Strict compliance with Environmental and Safety regulations.
  • Compliance and individual accountability with the MLI Quality System and ISO Registration is required. It is the employee’s commitment to ensure that the Company’s actual practices and procedures are exercised as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support and sustain a high performing team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
  • Science degree, technical degree, teaching degree or work equivalent.
  • Training certifications or work equivalent.
  • Minimum four (4) years coaching/teaching experience plus three (3) years relevant technical experience with equipment, chemistry, or labs.
  • Ability to read, understand apply information in Safety Data Sheets to ensure safe handling and use of chemicals and laboratory apparatus.
  • Computer literacy including ability to use software with working knowledge of computers and MS Office software.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is expected to accomplish the critical mission of the department and organization.
  • Perform necessary tasks and work hours needed to accomplish department and company goals.
  • Work as a productive member of a cohesive group toward a common goal and contribute to team development and effective team dynamics.
  • Ability to plan, organize and carry out assignments as instructed and with attention to detail and accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills, in English.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lab experience with instrumentation utilized (HPLC, GC, GPC, IC, Potentiostat, ICPMS, ICPOES, CVS, UV/VIS, Titration, TOC, Surface Tension)

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $34.86-$45.67/hour ($72.5K-$95K)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are generally performed indoors in an office/lab and high purity manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Employees will work in a covered Process Safety Management (PSM) environment containing threshold quantities of flammable liquids and/or gasses that have a potential for fire or explosion. Employees working in this environment are required to be free from devices that are not considered intrinsically safe. Examples of devices that may not be intrinsically safe include Insulin Pumps, Pacemakers, Pain Management devices, etc. The employee may work in the presence of fumes or airborne particles, hot, toxic, or corrosive chemicals, water, liquids, and electrical equipment. When working in the presence of safety hazards, the employee is expected to follow company safety rules and use proper personal protective equipment such as: respirator, hardhat, protective clothing, safety glasses, safety footwear, and full leather shoes, etc.
