Micron Technology
Full-time
On-site
Boise, Idaho, United States
Partner with Design Engineers during early project phases to influence electrical system architecture for long-term reliability, maintainability, and safety. Temporarily support the Construction Engineering Team by reviewing design documents, participating in technical workgroup calls, and ensuring constructability and compliance with standards. Evaluate electrical drawings, perform load calculations, fault current analysis, arc flash studies, and ensure alignment with NEC, IEEE, and client specifications. Respond to RFIs, review submittals (e.g., switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs), and support field engineering and inspections to ensure timely and code-compliant system delivery. Verify system functionality during commissioning and facilitate a smooth handoff to operations, ensuring systems meet performance expectations. Post-construction, take full ownership of electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls, emergency power, and lighting; manage performance and reliability. Lead fault investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions; use diagnostic tools and data to drive system improvements. Ensure adherence to safety and engineering standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584); maintain accurate documentation using BIM tools; train maintenance and operations teams. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, including design collaboration, construction support, and operational troubleshooting. Proficient in power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, and backup/emergency power systems. Familiar with electrical codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NETA. Skilled in electrical analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools) and BIM platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks). Experience supporting electrical systems in high-reliability environments such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities. Familiarity with electrical system cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC 62443) and emerging technologies including IoT, smart grid, and Industry 4.0 applications. Experience mentoring operations staff, promoting technical excellence, safety, and continuous learning in electrical system operations.
