We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.  Together, we advance your career.

The Role

We’re seeking a Director of Software Product Management to lead and be responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and execution of AMD’s ROCm performance libraries — the core components enabling compute, kernel authoring, and communication across AI workloads.

You’ll define how developers, researchers, and enterprises build on AMD GPUs by shaping the future of Composable Kernel (CK), RCCL, and associated math libraries. This role operates at the intersection of AI frameworks, compiler infrastructure, and GPU architecture, translating developer needs into high-performance, scalable software solutions.

This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for a technically fluent product leader passionate about building open ecosystems, optimizing GPU software stacks, and driving performance innovation across diverse hardware and software environments.

The Person

You are a strategic, execution-driven product leader who thrives in deeply technical domains. You combine strong communication and organizational leadership with hands-on understanding of GPU software, distributed training, and developer tools.

You excel at connecting hardware architecture, kernel optimization, and developer experience into a unified product vision. You are equally comfortable collaborating with engineering teams on runtime performance as you are presenting strategic direction to executives or partners.

You bring a developer-first mindset, deep empathy for open-source contributors, and a passion for accelerating the adoption of high-performance computing and AI software at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Define the vision and multi-year strategy for AMD’s ROCm core libraries, including Composable Kernel, RCCL, and math/communication primitives.

Develop and drive a competitive roadmap for performance, scalability, and framework integration that positions ROCm as the leading open-source GPU software platform.

Partner with architecture, compiler, and runtime teams to influence next-generation GPU design aligned with AI and HPC workloads.

Establish success metrics around developer adoption, framework integration, and real-world performance.

Product Management Execution

Lead a team of product managers responsible for ROCm’s library portfolio.

Translate customer, market, and developer needs into clear technical requirements for engineering execution.

Prioritize investments in kernel authoring tools, compiler interfaces, and modular APIs to enhance developer productivity.

Drive integration of ROCm libraries into leading AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, and Triton.

Champion Python-first interfaces and composable architectures to enable rapid innovation across AI and HPC workloads.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with GPU architecture, software engineering, and data center product teams to align on hardware/software co-design.

Collaborate with hyperscalers, ISVs, and research organizations to validate and enhance ROCm performance and scalability.

Partner with developer relations and marketing to promote ROCm through open-source engagement, developer education, and community initiatives.

Represent AMD’s open GPU software vision in global developer and research forums.

Leadership & Team Development

Build and mentor a high-performing product management team with deep technical expertise.

Foster a culture of innovation, transparency, and data-driven decision-making.

Serve as a key member of the ROCm software leadership team, contributing to AMD’s overall AI and HPC strategy.

Preferred Experience

Extensive experience in software product management or engineering roles, with at least 5 years in roles in GPU, HPC, or AI software.

Deep expertise in GPU computing ecosystems and libraries such as CUTLASS, cuBLAS, cuDNN, or NCCL.

Experience in AI compiler technologies (e.g., Triton, MLIR, TorchInductor) and kernel authoring tools.

Demonstrated success leading open-source or developer platform products.

Proven ability to influence technical and business strategy across cross-functional organizations.

Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Academic Credentials

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline required.

Ph.D. in GPU computing or Computer Science preferred.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
