Context

ASML develops and maintains a powerful generic motion control platform.

The generic motion platform serves a large number of high precision moving or controlled parts spread across ASML machines. The motion platform is organized as one train in the Motion Control department that is responsible for extending our generic motion control platform, helping our internal clients in getting their application operational with the platform, and giving support with any issues discovered that are related to the platform.

While the teams are relatively independent, together they guard the quality of our motion control platform and develop the way of working.

ASML is in a transition from a pure project based organization towards a more continuous development flow using stable teams. We developed our own operation model, drawing inspiration form SAFe and other agile scaling models. At the same time a stage-gate model is still active.

Our department has a history of being an agile front runner and not necessarily doing things like everyone else.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead our Motion Control train.

Your job mission is to organize the work in the train and create the right environment for high performing, motivated, and empowered teams to develop and thrive.

You ensure good prioritization in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You make sure our stakeholders are informed, understand decisions we make and know what they can expect. You also understand what is needed to be successful in the future and ensure we also keep working on improving our tools and process.

And at the same time you lead the charge as we implement Agile practices within the train and across the organization, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.

Role and responsibilities

  • Provide expert leadership for the release train, fostering a collaborative environment and driving the efficient delivery of high-quality work from several software and hardware teams.
  • Orchestrate and facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning events, ensuring strategic alignment between teams and program objectives.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate dependencies and risks that could impede progress of the train.
  • Champion Agile principles throughout the organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Function as a trusted advisor and coach, empowering Agile teams through ongoing support and guidance as they adopt new ways of working.

Education and experience

  • Proven experience as a Release Train Engineer or similar Agile leadership role in a high-tech, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience with transitioning from a traditional project-driven approach to an Agile product development approach.
  • Experience with coaching individuals and teams, fostering a growth mindset and high performance.

Skills

  • You have excellent facilitation and communication skills and are able to motivate and inspire teams
  • A strong record of problem-solving and a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Proven experience coaching and mentoring Agile teams, fostering a growth mindset and high performance.
  • You have a good grasp of agile theory, and are familiar with agile and lean concepts, methodologies and practices.

Do you possess a deep understanding of Agile methodologies and a passion for guiding organizations through successful transformations?

If you are a results-oriented leader with a passion for helping an organization to grow, we encourage you to submit your application!
