Introduction to the job

  • Manages the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes and operations for new and existing products. 

  • Manages work assignments in staffing, scheduling, coordinating, and planning of personnel engaged in manufacturing engineering activities.

  • Recommends and implements new processes and recommends new policies or procedures as necessary. 

  • Establishes and implements disciplined problem-solving methodologies to achieve yield, efficiency, quality and process capability goals. 

  • Effectively manages key Manufacturing Engineering projects while achieving project scope, budget and schedule.

  • Prepares and controls departmental annual budget. 

  • Supervises assembly of cost control and statistical data.

Role and responsibilities

  • Ensures the effective use of materials, equipment, and team resources in producing quality products at minimum costs.

  • Provides daily leadership, management, and guidance to Manufacturing engineers.

  • Provides guidance and training to technical staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains an outstanding staff.

  • Implements the organizational, capital, and process improvement projects.

  • Manages the programs/projects and resources in order to achieve the agreed objectives.

  • Ensures that critical pieces of equipment are identified, calibrated, and have an appropriate technical documentation.

  • Determines, recommends, and implements the necessary projects for improving the performance of the group and ensures that effective management systems are in place.

  • Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources. Works with other managers to understand priorities and plans resources and time allocation accordingly.

  • Develops departmental objectives and metrics and drives execution of them.

  • Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.

Education and experience

  • Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and may require an advanced degree (Master's, PhD), in applicable field or equivalent experience.

  • 15+ years of direct work experience (ex. Semiconductor-related factory experience)

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (Korean, English)

  • Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats.

  • Professional Certifications are a plus (ex. Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
