Position Summary: 

Manage an integrated circuit failure analysis (FA) lab, providing root-cause analysis, production material qualification and process development feedback in a 24 hour/7 day a week manufacturing environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of building and maintaining a full-time staff of five technicians and one engineer.
  • Continuous improvement of Key Performance Indicators relating to efficiency and effectiveness of lab.
  • Build and maintain third-party failure analysis ecosystem.
  • Develop and mentor employees.
  • Interact with external customers and auditors.
  • Identify, prioritize and support Continuous Improvement projects within the lab.
  • Manage FA budget, capital and headcount.
  • FA liaison for multiple concurrent site and corporate task forces, including automotive quality, new product development and foundry transfer projects.

The job also requires performing other duties as assigned. Percentages of time spent on job duties are estimates and may vary for each position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in a technical discipline such as Materials Science or Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical degree and a minimum of 2+ years of relevant work experience OR 6+ years relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with strong, demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to manage complex, multi-faceted problems using various problem-solving techniques. 
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients and employees at all levels of the organization, with ability to make rational decisions, effectively translate ideas, concepts and information while exercising good judgement regarding analysis methods and communication of results.
  • Strong project management competency with attention to detail with a high quality of work in a dynamic environment. Utilizes a proactive and persistent approach and demonstrates a sense of urgency in accordance with the issue.
  • Must be able to efficiently manage time when under pressure to meet deadlines while balancing the needs of multiple projects and customers at one time.
  • Willing to regularly meet and work with night shift technicians.

Licenses/Certificates:

  • Willing and able to get security clearance (potentially Top Secret)
  • Technology/Equipment:
  • Strong and demonstrated computer skills and experience with MS Office software (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Power Point).

US Citizenship Required: This position will require the holding of or ability to obtain government security clearance which requires U.S Citizenship. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years semiconductor failure analysis experience
  • Deep knowledge and demonstrated hands on laboratory experience using both analytical and mechanical test equipment including but not limited to: Scanning Electron Microscopy, Optical Microscopy, semiconductor de-processing.
  • Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and device physics.
  • Previous lab management experience.
