The Functional Safety Manager (FSM) at indie Semiconductor joins the team at the center of the automotive safety culture. As the FSM, you will be a leader to both development and application teams in assessing the functional safety requirements and contributing to the overall development to ensure functional safety is achieved. This position provides the independent oversight to meet the requirements of Functional Safety. He/she ensures indie product development and manufacturing in line with applicable safety standards and represents indie to customers.
Responsibilities
- Directing engineers and external stakeholders engaged on the program and project work.
- Act as gate keeper at each lifecycle phase.
- Audit and assess the functional safety work products for the assigned project.
- Develop, tailor, and maintain the safety plan.
- Schedule the confirmation reviews defined within the safety plan.
- Plan and conduct the functional safety assessment with the program/project manager
- Manage 3rd party audits and assessments.
- Ensure the adherence to the safety plan
- Evaluate customer safety systems to determine appropriate safety architecture.
- Train engineering teams about Functional Safety.

- BS/MS in natural science, Applied Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry (e.g. design, test, quality); however, highly motivated, open-minded new starters are welcome as well
- 5+ years of experience working to ISO26262, with strong knowledge of functional safety theory and specific on-the-job experience.
- The successful candidate must have strong manufacturing and quality engineering skills, data analysis skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reliable, accurate and customer-oriented mindset with excellent skills on documentation systems
- Strong understanding of Functional Safety Standard ISO26262 and Automotive Engineering principles
- Experience with the creation of safety documents, (e.g., Safety Case, FMEA, FMEDA and FTA)
Additional Qualifications:
- ISO26262 Certification
- Knowledge of Requirements Management tools
- Experience with Safety Analysis Tools
- Experience with Ansys Medini Analyze a plus.
- Knowledge of the Products Development Life Cycle with respect to Systems, Electrical or Software Development.
- Good technical leadership, planning and organization skills.
- Self-motivated / self-starter with the ability to find creative solutions.
- Experience with automotive requirements (e.g. AEC, FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 is a plus.
- Domestic and international travel will be required.
