Light sources are critical to secure the performance of ASML’s machines. ASML is developing and manufacturing special optical fibers that are essential to secure functionality of these light sources. We are looking for a fiber drawing engineer who can help us to further develop the fabrication process, manufacture stock and contribute to fiber process industrialization.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

In addition, training of fiber drawing operators is required, potentially a process transfer to new facilities (see also context of job below) as well as expert input for tooling development.
Job Description
- Work in a high tech fiber manufacturing facility (clean room) with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, manufacturers and management
- Participate in various stages of the fiber drawing process, starting from raw material characterization, preform assembly, to drawing fibers
- Contribute to troubleshoot and problem solving through data analysis, experimentation and collaboration with subject matter experts
- Bring in your own ideas to improve yield and process robustness. Implement these ideas into a standard operating procedure
- Contribute to fiber process industrialization and process transfer
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics or Material Science
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in a high tech environment
- Good English and German skills
- Demonstrable, practical experience in the following fields would be a big plus:
- Specialty Fiber drawing & characterization
- Clean room work
- Yield analysis in manufacturing
- Data analysis (MATLAB, Python, LabView)
Personal/Team Skills
- You are willing to be part in a high-performing team, in which we highly-value trust and follow a common mission
- You have an attitude to demonstrate our core company values: challenge, collaborate and care

Context of the position
You report to a group (team) leader and a part of SAFE (agile) environment. The principal location of work is in Erlangen, Germany. Regular business trips to ASML’s Headquarters in the Netherlands are required. IMPORTANT: the current drawing facilities are located in Erlangen (Germany). It is envisioned, that new facilities will be installed in Veldhoven (The Netherlands) around 2027-2028. Interested candidates should be able to express their motivation to accompany the process transfer from Erlangen to Veldhoven as well as be interested in a re-location to Veldhoven after process transfer complete.
