Introduction

The work of the Gas Safety Architect consists of a translation of the overall gas safety system requirements into a gas safety system architecture that meets these requirements. Role and responsibilities

As Gas Safety Architect you will be responsible for translating top level safety requirements into specific safety requirements for the different users in the system, and communication to, and where necessary negotiation between, the responsible functional teams. Functional teams are responsible for meeting the requirements set by the Gas Safety Architects and translating them into their designs, you will be required to review said designs to ensure they indeed meet the required safety standards.
The other main part of the work is to bring the system into operation with all the specified safety functions and gas safety verification tests are required to prove that the safety architecture is working as intended during the specification phase. Additionally align the end-users, within ASML factories and at customer sites on design changes.
 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand the function of the media at the end users inside the lithography tool
  • Perform analyses and calculations to predict the functionality of the architecture or subsystem (risk assessments, safety levels)
  • Where necessary develop group competence by literature research, experimental testing or supervision of external research partners
  • Negotiate, define, document and present the specifications of architecture or subsystem
  • Translate these specifications to generate a safety system, including electronics and software, and act as counterpart and guidance during the detailed design process
  • Take care of the functional integration of the safety architecture on system or subsystem: prove, document and present its proper functioning using offline and / or machine tests
  • Troubleshoot issues related to the Safety architecture on system or subsystem.
  • Give support to end users during troubleshooting.
  • Personal ability to understand and communicate GS knowledge and requirements effectively to a wider audience.
  • Create Gas Safety requirements based on competence guidelines and translate these requirements to a specific system requirements.
  • As a plus: Able to perform SIL calculations.
  • As a plus: Understanding of Atex/IEC safety standards.

Activities within Role:

  • Support Gas Safety release.
  • Translate GS requirements to module requirements.
  • Support customer escalations.
  • Support integration activities/tests.
  • Create and deliver Gas safety documentation.
  • Guide other to meet Gas Safety requirements or adherence.
  • Defend safety decisions/choices within safety reviews for responsible system.

Education & Experience

  • 5-10 years+ outside experience within a Gas Safety role or 3 years in an ASML Architectural Role.
  • Bachelor or Master education level.

Other information

The Gas Safety Architect reports to the Group Leader as well as the Gas Safety Competence and Project Leader(s). He or she maintains regular alignment with the various function which require adherence to Gas Safety owner.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
