Introduction to the job

The Strategic Decision Support (SDS) department focusses on strategic and complex business decisions across ASML. While being part of the Finance organization and through its broad scope, the SDS department is involved with, and exposed to, very diverse challenges such as: Capacity decisions, Footprint strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions, Strategy Development, Portfolio Development. As Head of M&A transactions, you will oversee and manage the portfolio of M&A transaction projects and support PMI and post-integration synergies tracking, enabling high quality decisions for the global organization.

Roles and responsibilities

  • You manage, coach and develop a team of M&A transaction experts, manage resources in alignment with the investment pipeline and maintain internal and external stakeholder relations regarding M&A.

  • You are the M&A transaction process owner and facilitate the ASML Investment Committee, the key governance body for M&A.

  • You support business lines and sectors with screening targets for mitigating business capability or competence risks, and in other areas as needed.

  • You ensure high quality decision-support for each stage of M&A and lead project initiation, investment strategy, negotiation, deal execution, due diligence process across- and together with all functional areas.

  • You prepare the initial post-merger integration phase, including synergy validation, long term synergy tracking and drive accountability across all functional areas. 

Education and experience

You have 15+ years of experience in M&A within the semiconductor industry and you have an established network in the SEMI industry related ecosystem. You have a proven track record as a deal execution leader, including negotiation, initial integration and synergies tracking in a complex organization. You have demonstrated experience in facilitating investment and M&A discussions for C-level decision makers. As preferred condition, but not pre-requisite, you have experience in leading full business integration programs.

To qualify for this position, you need to be able to demonstrate deep analytical skills and at the same time very strong people and communication skills. A completed study at master level (MSc) serves as a good basis to be successful in this role while an affinity with finance or (business) economics is essential. A PhD or MBA would be preferred but not a pre-requisite.

You are a self-aware team player, flexible and with a proactive approach you thrive in a highly demanding, dynamic environment. You are fluent in English and preferably Dutch.
