Your team
One of the mega trends is the evolution towards self-driving cars. Market leader NXP Product Line In-Vehicle Networking is driving this by development of advanced, CAN, LIN and Ethernet-based data communication into the cars.
Do you like to work on an internship or thesis related to the next generation In-Vehicle Networking products, in a demanding and competitive market with extreme high standards for quality? Are you a trouble shooter, have a hands-on mentality and are eager to find any issue in a new design before it gets at our customers?
For our fast growing team in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, we are looking for Verification graduation interns.
Your Responsibilities
You will work on an assignment to optimize methods used in the Verification (simulations) and Validation (lab measurements) of our products and IP in development.
The Verification and Validation (short V&V) engineers in the design team, focus on the challenging task to ensure correctness of functions and performance of modules and/or products of mixed signal circuits for the future generation In-Vehicle Networking systems.
The challenges of these products include a.o. meeting the very demanding automotive requirements on EMC, very low power design and lifetime profiles at extreme temperatures. Other challenges include being sure to be first time right (TTM requirements), enhancing the productivity and effectiveness of the V&V team by introducing formal verification, advanced automation, AI/ML techniques, Functional Safety (FuSa) verification, mixed signal (AMS) modelling, etc.
You will work in a cross-functional project team and will be coached in working in (scrum-)teams, collaborating in a common Verification and Validation (V&V) environment and optimizing the re-use of testware across various V&V platforms.
The assignment can be about the exploration, definition, implementation of improvements for our simulation as well as lab-validation environments;
For example:
- Analysis of the used simulation as well as lab validation tools, automation scripting and hardware
- Bring in Machine learning and/or formal techniques to optimize testing
- Optimizing the AMS models used in our development
- Learn about automating lab equipment, the lab validation hardware circuit boards and the control SW
- Abstracting the tests in a way the test can be performed both in simulation environment as well as in a lab environment
- Implementing (in software code like e.g. Python) the abstraction layer(s) to control the lab equipment, the validation board and simulation environment.
- Debugging and testing the flow by using a real IVN product in development
Example Deliveries:
- Theoretical model/framework of the required set-up and flow
- Automation scripting to control both simulation as well as Hardware lab environment
- A working demo to provide evidence of a working example of the environment and flow
- A way of working guide for Verification and Validation engineers to use the environment and flows created
Your characteristics:
- Bachelor/Master student studying Electrical/Electronics/System engineering
- Affinity with the state of art scripting, working with lab equipment and tools for PCB design
- Creative and positive mindset, hands-on mentality, focus on quality
- Flexible and eager for new challenges beyond the skills already acquired
- Excellent communication in English, both verbal and written
- Ambition for a career in IC design/Semiconductor industry
Duration
This is a full-time internship (40 hours per week) with a duration of about 5-8 months. The assignment could also be suitable as a thesis/graduation project.
What’s in it for you
- Ability to develop your skills (technical, soft skills, communication, etc.)
- Gaining experience in a multinational and diverse environment
- Possibility to become part of NXP’s Young Professional Talent Pool
- Working on real assignments which contribute to NXP’s objectives
- Depending on assessed potential/performance a permanent position in our organization could be considered.
