Job Summary
The Functional Safety Manager position sits within our Business Unit (BU) Automotive, Business Line (BL) Automotive Sensors group. BU Automotive is one of the core businesses of NXP.
NXP is the number one supplier of automotive semiconductors and our technologies for Automotive applications create new ways to make cars cleaner, safer and more secure while adding convenience and fun.
Responsibilities
- Leads NXP Automotive Sensors strategy and deployment for functional safety.
- Establish and own technical vision and architectural approaches for Functional Safety in next generation products.
- Overall accountable for Functional Safety in all Sensors products brought to market.
- Manages team of functional safety experts, actively engaged in ISO 26262 standards body.
- Evangelize the Functional Safety approach across organizational boundaries and with senior management.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required
Job Qualifications
Skills Required
- Demonstrated cross-division, cross-group technical leadership and influence;
- Comfortable working with the ambiguity inherent in implementing new technologies;
- Proven ability to enroll technical and business stakeholders, including internal engineering teams, customers and ecosystem partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills spanning technical contributors, business stakeholders, customers, and executive management.
Experience
- Proven experience in engaging global, cross-functional and cross-organizational team of stakeholders into a common mission and achieving quickly tangible results in bootstrapping new cooperative frameworks
- An intimate knowledge of ISO-26262
- 10+ years architecting, designing, and/or validating functional safety systems in automotive
- 5+ years leading technical teams.
- A passion for streamlined engineering processes
- Good understanding of the responsibility share between supplier and OEM when it comes to product safety
- Desirable: 5+ years designing fault-tolerant, high-availability systems
Education
Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 10 years of industry experience.
