You will be responsible for support of product safety compliance for the Plasma Business Unit and Global Hardware Design Development in Japan and Korea.
Responsibility
Help support design engineering team on proper risk assessments for new products and review upgrades and retrofits to existing products for safety compliance.
Coordinate the 3rd party assessments of the equipment to comply with SEMI safety standards as well as the European Regulations and Directives and provide guidance on design practices necessary to comply with these standards.
Work together with other ASM Product Safety Technology (PST) leaders to maintain global equipment design guidelines (for safety compliance).
Lead/contribute to Product Life Cycle management (for safety compliance) and support/contribute to Product Safety Engineering Risk Database.
Lead/contribute to product design related Safety Incident Reports (SIR's) investigations, including root cause analysis.
Provide support and ownership of customer equipment safety related questions and issues.
Skills Required:
Ability to lead and coordinate diverse stakeholder engagement from business unit engineers, managers and external customers.
Strong project management skills - ability to execute and drive projects to closure. Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of SEMI Safety Guidelines and have the ability to interpret and apply these to equipment design requirements.
Ability to lead and coordinate safety analyses for semiconductor industries based on SEMI S2, 2006/42/EC and other machinery/functional safety/SEMI related standards and legislation
Ability to coordinate 3rd party product compliance assessment/evaluation (such as visual construction inspection, electrical safety compliance testing per SEMI S22, tracer gas testing per SEMI S6) and the ability to effectively manage customer safety inquiries and issues.
Additional / Desirable:
Dual language communication skills (Both Korean (or Japanese) and English preferred)
Knowledge of European Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) Annex 1, Annex 7 requirements and new Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.
Experience in leading engineering design review sessions using FMEA, HAZOP, "What-If" or other hazard identification methods of new modules and subsystems.
Experience in estimating the risk of harm (per SEMI S10/SEMI S14) based on each hazard identified.
Experience in providing Product Safety Engineering training sessions to design engineers.
