Cirrus Logic's Mixed Signal Validation & Characterization Engineering team is looking for a Senior Engineer who will validate functionality and characterize high performance mixed-signal analog converters, Class D digital power amplifiers and digital interface products using automated test procedures. 

Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement tests on the lab bench per the validation and characterization plan during the post-silicon phase of the product to ensure functionality and performance as per the datasheet.
    • Collaborate closely with IC Design, System and Application Engineers to understand requirements and use cases.
    • Develop validation and characterization plans for IP and chip-level test cases from datasheet and in consultation with design and systems engineers.
    • Think beyond the datasheet and around design corners to find elusive bugs.
    • Develop automated test frameworks in Python to optimize validation efficiency.
    • Design PCB schematics and work with layout engineers to review board layouts before being released for fabrication.
    • Review and contribute to ATE load board schematic designs as well as reviews for schematics and layout.
    • Be able to debug silicon, PCB designs, and Validation software.
    • Work with peers to implement standard methodologies and continuous improvements to Cirrus Logic methodologies.
    • Analyse test results and identify failures/defects using business intelligence tools such as Spotfire or JMP.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • BSc, MSc or MEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (or related fields)
    • Proven experience in areas such as pre and/or post-silicon validation/characterization, mixed-signal IP block design/validation, power management, audio-related signal processing, and algorithm, automation frameworks.
    • Experience in Validation/Characterization automation and scripting/programming languages such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, C, Python or similar.
    • Solid hands-on experience in lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, audio analyzers, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers for measurement and debugging issues.
    • Electrical engineering knowledge in analog, digital, power electronics, or audio engineering. This includes mixed-signal building blocks such as ADC, DAC, PLLs, amplifiers, signal processing and measurement, IC control/communication protocols.
    • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are highly valued as you will need to understand silicon, board, and software interactions.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience in hardware automation frameworks and software scripting languages.
    • Proficiency is working with digital industry interface standards.
    • Experience using NI test automation tools and hardware.
This position is based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

This is a hybrid position and will follow a 2+ day in-office work schedule, with in-office days based on business needs and team preference. You must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning employment with Cirrus Logic.
