PURPOSE: 
Principal Metrology and Testing Engineer will ensure product quality, compliance and continuous improvement with skills of cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership, risk mitigation, and problem resolution to achieve customer satisfaction and business growth. The Principal Metrology and Electrical Testing Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing yields and reliability of FFI products.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, implement, and optimizing metrology and electrical testing processes.
  • Develop and optimize electrical testing and metrology tools to accurately measure and characterize functionality of product and to detect defects and electrical failures.  

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • 5 years of experience in semiconductor or MEMS manufacturing process metrologies including automated defect inspection and electrical testing for quality assurance and yield improvement.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field or 2 years and a PhD degree. Relevant certifications in metrology, quality engineering, semiconductor technology, or related field are a plus. 
  • Understanding of semiconductor fabrication or MEMS manufacturing or PCB processes, materials, equipment, and technologies, such as lithography, dielectric film, metal plating and passivation.    
  • Hands-on experience in electrical testing equipment using flying probe or Kelvin probe, leakage and continuity testing program design and performing testing, ensuring product performance meeting specifications.  
  • Experienced with Allegro software to review layout. Familiar with PCB design principles.   
  • Familiarity with metrology equipment, instrumentation, calibration procedures, and standards to ensure accurate and reliable measurements. 
  • Experience of acquiring and qualifying tools to manufacturing production.  
  • Proficiency in various metrology methods and techniques used for semiconductor characterization, including optical microscopy, CD and Z-height measurement tool, scanning electron microscopy, metal shear measurement, and AOI.  
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), failure analysis techniques 
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as MATLAB, Minitab, JMP, or Python, for analyzing metrology and testing data, identifying trends, patterns, anomalies, and extracting actionable insights. 
  • Soft skills including problem-solving and analytical thinking, attention to details, communication and collaboration with various teams, continuous learning and flexibility to adopt new technologies.

The pay range for this role in Baldwin Park, CA is between $110,700 and $145,320. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands.
