Engineering Software Manager (Optical Solutions Group)

Synopsys Optical Solutions Group (OSG) is looking for an Engineering Software Manager to contribute to our optical software products. The successful candidate will be responsible for a portion of optical and photonic design and analysis software portfolio used by major customer electronics companies worldwide.

The candidate’s key responsibilities include:
  • Lead software project execution process by collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, and customer representatives in an agile environment to create innovative optical software solutions to tackle cutting edge problems.
  • Drive strategic product decisions which ensures the successful delivery of projects.
  • Attract, recruit, on-board and retain top talents in optical and photonic design software field.
  • Motivate, develop, and support the high-performance team for R&D innovation and career development.
Qualifications:
  • Proven track record developing, leading, mentoring and growing high-performing software engineering teams
  • Proven experience managing sophisticated software projects through full product delivery cycles with cross-functional teams towards delivering timely, high-quality commercial software.
  • Experience with Software project processes such as Agile or Lean Software Development
  • Excellent written and verbal skills as well as the presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Experience of software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, build processes, and testing.
  • Deep understanding in advanced key technology areas such as Cloud, HPC, GPU, AI/ML, etc.
  • Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in Optics, Physics, Engineering, or related field.
Knowledge and expertise in any of the following areas is a plus:
  • Expertise in Optical and/or Photonic or Multiphysics domain design software.
  • Experience with developing complex optical systems such as AR/VR/MR, HMD, HUD, etc.

The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $142,000-$212,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses. The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of job-related factors, including location, skills, experience, and education.
