Purpose:
The Principal Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in our organization in supporting the organization by deploying and continuously improving Form Factor's Quality Management System. This role leads efforts aimed at implementing tools, processes, and procedures to meet or exceed customer’s quality expectations and has high visibility to our top management.
 
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes two main aspects of quality, ‘Quality Engineering’ and ‘Quality Management Systems’. Other duties may be assigned to assist Quality Manager and/or Quality Director as needed. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
 
- Quality Engineering:
Participate in customer and manufacturing quality meetings.
Drive/ team up cross-functional team activities to implement solutions using 8D methodology for customer complaints/ issues / escalations.
Facilitates and supports problem solving efforts in manufacturing using quality tools such as 8D, Ishikawa, 5Why, 5S, FMEA, SPC, DOE.
Maintain Quality Metrics and drive continuous improvement to achieve the Quality goals.
Responsible for on-hold product/ material disposition (MRB) in timely manner to support OTD.
Support data analysis as needed basis for continues process improvement activities.
Support Engineering with the implementation of Process Control plans, Process Capability analysis, Control Charts, etc.
 Assist in developing and upkeeping of 5S+ standards.
 
- Quality Management System:
Implement, Maintain, Improve ISO9001 Quality Management Systems for Livermore site.
Perform gap analysis for site level (Fab/ VPS/ A&T) operations processes and ISO 9001 requirements and close gaps working with respective process owners.
Establish and lead site quality Management reviews with focus on QMS inputs and outputs for periodic verification and improvement of QMS effectiveness.
Manage and support external audits (3rd party certification body and customer) and drive corrective action to closure.
Execute and owns internal quality audit program. Report audit results to management and drive corrective actions implementation for gaps found during internal audits.
Identify and initiate actions/ tasks/ projects that will result in continuous improvement of the Quality System, products, and processes.
Actively assists in the document control process for the processes that are part of QMS.
 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCEAND SKILLS REQUIRED
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Material Science or Electrical engineering or related discipline required, Master’s degree or specialization in Quality Management Systems preferred.
Minimum 5 years (Bachelor’s) or 3 years (Master’s) combined work experience in Quality Engineering and Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
Solid understanding of Quality tools, 8D, Ishikawa, 5Why, 5S, FMEA, SPC, DOE
Extensive knowledge ISO 9001 and IPC standards.
 
- Nice to have:
Experience in implementing ISO 9001.
Cross-functional team environment experience.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Proficient in data analysis using excel / JUMP analyze.
Highly organized, detail oriented, be able to prioritize and work effectively without supervision. 
Ability to travel 10-20% of time as needed.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Green Belt, Black Belt, Certified Quality Engineer, ISO 9001 internal lead auditor certification is plus.
 
The pay range for this role in Livermore CA. is between $110,700 and $145,320. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. Benefits offered for this role include medical, dental, vision, EAP, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending and savings accounts, 401(k), ESPP and paid time off.
