Job Summary:
Administer facility health and safety programs and ensure facility compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety policies and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations
- Develop system to verify effectiveness of safety programs and compliance with safety requirements
- Adhere to Polar’s internal safety policies and procedures; Support and foster Polar’s safety culture
- Implement program to comply with Semi S2 and Semi S8 standards
- Perform safety audits of new and existing equipment and processes; prepare recommendations and implement
- Conduct job hazard analysis to identify potential hazards and implement preventive actions
- Conduct/coordinate industrial hygiene testing of suspected or known facility hazard areas as an exposure control measure
- Gather and analyze data at the facility on health and safety metrics to assist in assessing trends, issues and areas for improvement; publish management updates
- Ensure necessary and timely safety record keeping; submit reports to federal/local authorities, as required
- Oversee the management of work-related injuries at the facility: Lead investigations to determine root cause, implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, develop measures to verify effectiveness
- Develop, prepare, and conduct/coordinate safety training
- Manage ongoing relationships with governmental agencies, industry and trade groups
- Schedule, chair and communicate Safety Committee meeting discussions
- Participate on the Emergency Response Team as an Emergency Coordinator
Skills and Knowledge:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering
- a minimum of 3+ years' experience in safety related field; experience with semiconductor, electronics manufacturing or other chemically intensive manufacturing industries preferred
- Working knowledge and experience with Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements
- Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) across functional departments, contractors, and suppliers
- Knowledge of Semi S2, Semi S8 and ISO 45001 preferred
- Organized, detailed, and strong problem-solving/critical thinking skills
- Computer literacy on MS Word, Excel, Access
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Ability to work flexible hours and the ability to respond to emergency situations on an as needed (infrequent) basis
- Occasional exposure to hazardous chemical substances; Frequent work in all areas of the facility: clean room, mechanical areas, and dock locations with exposure to wide temperature ranges
- Use of Respirator and Supplied Air systems.

The estimated base salary range for the position is $80,000- $107,000. The pay offered is based on many factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, job-related experience, skills and level of the position, and internal equity.
